Alice Hoi-ching Yeung is a Hong Kong Composer currently based in Bern, Switzerland. She works in the field of music theatre, installation arts, videography, and any grey areas in between. After she graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she moved to the Netherlands for her Master’s studies at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Recently she got accepted in the MA program of Bern University of the Arts (Hochschule der Künste Bern) specialising in Composition Creative Practice, where she dedicates her practice to contemporary music and theatre under the supervision of Simon Steen-Andersen and Franziska Baumann.
Yeung’s music has been internationally featured in professional presentations across Europe and Asia such as La Biennale di Venezia, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Muzički Biennale Zagreb, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Transit Festival Belgium, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, November Music Festival, Klangforum Wien, Orkest de Ereprijs, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Calefax Reed Quintet, Mivos Quartet, New European Ensemble, PROJECT21stHK, ICTUS Ensemble, among others. Her work has been selected as one of the recommended work in the Under 30 Category of the 68th International Rostrum of Composers in Palermo, Italy, and won the New Composers Pitch Prize at the New Music Conference of November Music 2021 at ’s-Hertogenbosch. This year she is chosen as one of the research fellows for Stichting Rizoom, presenting an interactive audiovisual installation for one audience ‘The Lounge (beta 2.0)’ at De Doelen Rotterdam.
