Alice Yeung (b. 1999) is a sound and interdisciplinary composer and performer who was born and raised in Hong Kong, currently based in Den Haag, Netherlands. Yeung is keen on experimenting with new possibilities and approaches of audience and performers within various dimensions, combining different colliding elements or music genres with friction and coherence. Her works range from orchestral music, electronic and chamber works for instruments, to experimental participation interdisciplinary works.
Yeung’s music has been internationally featured in professional presentations across Europe and Asia such as Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Theater Münster, Muzički Biennale Zagreb, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Transit Festival Belgium, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, November Music Festival, Klangforum Wien, Orkest de Ereprijs, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, HERMESensemble, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Calefax Reed Quintet, Mivos Quartet, New European Ensemble, PROJECT21stHK, ICTUS Ensemble, Ligeti Quartet, ISCM New Zealand, among others. Her work has been selected as one of the recommended works in the Under 30 Category of the 68th International Rostrum of Composers in Palermo, Italy, and won the New Composers Pitch Prize at the New Music Conference of November Music 2021 at Den Bosch, Netherlands. This year she is one of the composers of Biennale College Musica in La Biennale di Venezia 2024 — Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea: Absolute Music.
After graduating from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with the first class honour of Bachelors Degree in Composition and Electronic Music in 2021, Yeung received her Master of Music in Composition in 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague as the nominee of the Excellence Scholarship.
